Spain crowned: the four titles Spanish motocross has conquered in 2026

Just a few hours ago, at Thunder Ridge Nature Arena (Missouri, United States), Jorge Prado became the first Spanish rider in history to be crowned SMX World Champion. That title closes out, in style, a 2026 season that will go down in the history of Spanish motocross: four championships won by Spanish riders, in different categories, with very different stories. And one of them, the title won by Francisco García “Carbonero”, feels especially close to us because of how much we care about him at Gas&Fun.

The Monster Energy SMX World Championship is the grand final that crowns the best motocross rider in the United States each year, combining the results of AMA Supercross and Pro Motocross. On September 26, 2026, at Thunder Ridge Nature Arena, Jorge Prado posted a commanding 5-1 across the two 450cc motos to take the title ahead of Haiden Deegan, finishing seven points clear overall.

For Prado, already a multiple MXGP world champion, this title carries special meaning: just a year ago he did not even qualify for the SMX playoffs, and in his second full season in the United States he has become the first Spaniard to lift this trophy.

Guillem Farrés gives Triumph its first world title in 61 years of history

A few days earlier, on September 20-21, Guillem Farrés was crowned MX2 World Champion with Triumph Factory Racing. This is no ordinary title: it’s the first motocross World Championship the British brand has won in its 61-year history, and it came thanks to a Spanish rider. Congratulations Guillén!!!

On September 20, at the Australian Grand Prix, Daniela Guillén sealed the 2026 WMX World Championship title with a perfect score (1-1 across both motos of the final). After finishing runner-up in 2023 and 2024 and third in 2025, Guillén becomes the first Spanish woman to win this championship: a landmark moment for Spanish women’s motocross.

Francisco García “Carbonero”: from San Roque to Kawasaki’s official team

And now we come to the title we feel especially close to at Gas&Fun. Francisco García “Carbonero”, just 18 years old and born in San Roque (Cádiz) — a stone’s throw from our home in Sotogrande — was crowned 2026 EMX250 European Champion in Arnhem with the Venum Bud Racing Kawasaki team.

This is not a title that came out of nowhere. Francisco García “Carbonero” has been racing since he was a child: twice Spanish runner-up in MX50 (2018), Spanish MX65 champion that same year, Spanish MX125 champion in 2022 — at just 14 years old —, third in the 125cc Junior World Championship in 2024 and third in the 250cc European Championship in 2025. This year, at last, he has made the definitive leap to the top of the continental podium.

And the reward for this season could not have come at a better time: Kawasaki has just announced his signing for the official Kawasaki Racing Team for the next three seasons, with his MX2 World Championship debut in 2027 and a path open toward MXGP if he keeps performing at the level he has shown.

At Gas&Fun we were lucky enough to have Francisco García “Carbonero” on our team from his very beginnings, and seeing him today on his way to the top level of world motorcycling fills us with pride. Congratulations, champion. We are so happy for you and for that wonderful family of yours!!!

From Gas&Fun

Four titles, four stories, one same origin: the passion for getting on a bike and pushing it to the limit, whatever it takes. That same passion is what we try to pass on through every one of our routes and driving courses — you don’t need to be a professional rider to feel that adrenaline, you just need to start. Congratulations to all four champions, and especially to Francisco García “Carbonero”: watching you grow from San Roque all the way to the top has been a privilege.
