Motorcycle Rental in Málaga: Rent Alone or Ride with a Local Guide?

You’ve booked your flight to Málaga, and now you want a bike. The Costa del Sol has dozens of places to rent a scooter or a road motorcycle. But if what you’re after is mountain passes, gravel tracks and the real Andalusia, the question isn’t just where to rent. It’s how you want to ride.

We’re Gas & FUN, a family of riders from Marbella. We’ve been around motorcycles since 1970, and today we guide trail and off-road tours from our base 45 minutes from Málaga airport. Here’s an honest comparison.

Option 1: Rent a bike and ride on your own

Good for: road riders who want to cruise the coast and the classic passes at their own pace.

What to keep in mind:

  • Most rental shops in Málaga are city- and road-focused. Adventure and enduro bikes are harder to find.
  • You’ll need to plan your own routes, and in Andalusia off-road riding is only allowed on authorised tracks. Some natural parks ban motor vehicles altogether.
  • If something goes wrong in the mountains, you’re on your own.

Option 2: Ride with a local guide (the bike comes with it)

Good for: riders who want the trails that aren’t on any map, without the planning.

This is what we do. We don’t rent bikes on their own: our motorcycles come with our guided tours. It’s a deliberate choice. Our bikes are prepared for the terrain we ride, and we’d rather you discover Andalusia’s best trails than spend your holiday looking for them.

What you get:

  • An adventure or enduro bike, ready to ride: KTM 890 Adventure R, Yamaha Ténéré 700, KTM 390 Adventure R, CF 450 MT, or 2T and 4T enduro bikes. A2 riders can choose the KTM 390 Adventure R or the CF 450 MT.
  • Insured bikes: third-party cover (the legal minimum) on every bike, and more complete options on some models. Ask us about the cover on the bike you choose.
  • Riding gear currently included in the price, so you can travel light. Prefer your own kit? Bring it.
  • A guide who knows the land: legal trails, viewpoints, villages, the lunch stop only locals know.
  • Airport transfer from Málaga available as an optional extra.
  • Tours from half a day to multi-day trips across Andalusia, Portugal and Morocco.

A category A licence for the big adventure bikes, or A2 for the KTM 390 Adventure R and CF 450 MT. There’s no minimum age: you just need a valid, recognised licence.
